It used to be considered a truism that that teenagers are too old to adopt. We now know that teens’ chance of stability in adulthood is greatly enhanced when they are connected long term to people who truly care about them. For that reason, CV actively seeks adoptive parents for teenagers and has placed a number of adolescents with families in recent years. Families who take in an older child must be able look beyond the typical teenager behavior that can challenge adults and be willing to be there for them when they are 21 and beyond.

CV has joined with You Gotta Believe, an organization dedicated to helping teens find stable families, in developing an education and training program that helps prospective parents understand the challenges and rewards of adopting a teenager.
