Participate in Village Programs

Individuals may volunteer their time and/or special skills in one of the many programs on our Dobbs Ferry campus.

  • Tutor a youngster in our after school academic program 4:00 – 5:30 PM or 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Minimum time requirement is 1 ½ hours once a week for the entire school year.
  • Be a teacher’s assistant at our school. Minimum time requirement would be two school days a week  from 8:30 – 3:15 p.m
  • Share a craft, skill or passion (e.g. cooking, yoga) with a group of teens in their cottage.
  • Help our canine program by becoming a weekend puppy raiser for future service dogs for the handicapped.
  • Assist our staff in running a Work Appreciation for Youth (WAY) work site, such as the Village Store, the greenhouse, student newsletter, dog grooming or the Nature Cabin. 
  • Help our WAY youngsters with resume building, interview readiness, job placement or application completion skills. Minimum time requirement is one day a week for two hours.
  • Join Books for Boys and introduce youngsters to the joys of reading.  Join a group of dedicated literacy volunteers who make a commitment of two hours per week.
  • Celebrate the Holidays by donating gifts to “Santa’s Store” for our youngsters to give their families or giving a couple of hours to help the youngsters select their gifts. Organize a gift drive at your office, church or community group for one of our cottages.
  •  Help our pastoral care program by assisting our Chaplain with Sunday services, playing the piano, or chaperoning at Young Life Summer Camp.
  • Volunteer in our Recreation Department with sports activities, Chess Club or arts programs. Minimum time requirement is one day a week for two hours.
  • Spanish speaking volunteers may work with youngsters at one of our transitional residences for alien children in Queens or Dobbs Ferry.
  • Interact with the youth at our shelter for homeless and runaway youth.
  • “Techies” may assist in our Youth Network computer program.
  • Unpaid Internships are offered in Crisis Residence, Admissions, Greenburgh 11 Grades 1 – 7, Arts program, HR, Bi-lingual, Day Care, The Shelter.
